This years 2011 Holiday Card. I was a little pressed for time this year so i'm not 100% happy with the final result, but it was still fun to make.

Muckala 2011 Holiday Card

Seeing how these have already been mailed, I think it's safe to post. Above is the 2011s Muckala family Christmas card. For the third year now, I've been honored to help out my good friends with their holiday card. I love working on these cards because the themes are always so inventive. This year, the family wanted to to focus on the fact that they are now spread across the country, and as an added bounce, have a Mad Magazine style fold in. The fold in was a bit difficult to figure out, but I think the final result turned out well.

So for awhile now I've been wondering why my Magneto sketch has been getting so many views. Well, I think I found the answer today. See above link. For the life of me I can't understand why this site chose to use my drawing when there is so much amazing Magneto art out there, but it was a very pleasant surprise to discover. It's always nice to find you have a fan.

Sticking with the tentacle theme this morning, here is a sketch i made the other day during my lunch hour, and the colors I added that night. About 30 minutes on the sketch, and a hour on the colors. Enjoy.

Dr. Strange

It occurred to me the other day that I've never drawn Dr. Strange. So, feeling the need to rectify this, I drew this Dr. Strange sketch and added a bit of color for fun. However, once this drawing was all said and done, it also occurred to me that I must have some kind of fondness for giant tentacle monsters. I think this is my third attacking tentacle monster drawing in the past few months. Oh well, at least they are cool looking. Enjoy.

So as you may or may not know, I've been rather busy the past few weeks. However, things are starting to finish up, and I'm ready to start showing a few of the projects I've been working on. See above for the first. While I still have a couple of paintings remaining, I'm pleased to announce that I received the new Safe Haven script the other day, and have started working on that as well. Wow where does the time go? Sorry for the lack of posting. I've had the good fortune of freelance work on my drawing table these past few weeks, and have had my hands full with a few other side projects. SpiderMan Web Head 2.0 Contest

For a change, I thought I would start posting some finished work rather than sketches. Above is my attempt at Project Rooftops Spiderman Web Head 2.0 contest. I'm not sure if they will post it, or if they will even like it, but it was a ton of fun to make.

I wanted to approach this concept with a bit of practicality. I tried thinking realistically what would a modern day teenager, from a low income family, who suddenly finds himself with superpowers, would come up with for a costume.

Attu 2 work in progress panel

A little update on Attu issue 2 for the two of you who care. While it's been a much longer journey to completion than I ever would have imagined, Attu issue 2 is wrapping up nicely. Sadly, I can't give a release date yet, but I can say the book is still moving forward and that it will see the light at the end of the printing tunnel eventually. A big thank you to all who picked up the first issue. Hopefully you'll enjoy the second when it comes out.

So I finally found this Pentel Brush Pen that I've been looking forward to trying for some time, and sketched this guy up last night.
The pen worked great and I think I'll continue to use it in the future. For whatever reason though, I now really enjoying add 30 minute colors to my sketches. Oh well.
